Event Details

General Gaming Information :

TSS starts Southern Front on a Friday afternoon starting at noon. The event runs until Midnight on Friday with two general game timespans, afternoon and evening. Games are marked FA and FE respectively. We then open the doors again at 9AM on the Saturday morning. Games on saturday fall into any one of three generalized time-slots, Morning, Afternoon and Evening, labeled SM, SA and SE respectively. The sunday matches are usually all grouped together into one category, running anywhere from 9AM through to the end of the event at 5PM. We tend to run roughly ten 6' x 12' tables between the main ballroom and the triviana room. We mark the game information on a huge cork bulletin board in the corner with the table assignments and game information clearly marked. Make sure and tap the game scheduler on the shoulder to ask any questions or notify him of game movements or cancellations. We can usually attend to all of your needs with room to spare. Every year it amazes us how many different types of genres and scales are run. We have a very good spread of representative GMs locally and from abroad that regularly attend the event. You are gaurenteed to find something you will enjoy!

Vendors Galore :

Our vendor participation has nearly doubled over the past years event. This is in part due to grass roots word of mouth that the event is very vendor friendly. We pride ourselves in keeping the vendors as close to the action as possible, and we try our best to bring buyers to their doorsteps while giving them the elbow room they need to operate. We have had representation from Outland of Pennsylvania and many other vendors from rather far distances. Also, Chris Hughes, our local scultor and miniature artiste extra-ordinaire, runs a vendor slot for his locally made and operated business, www.sashandsaber.com miniatures. Of note, he also sculpts for Old Glory minis. Chris' attention to detail and emotion in his miniatures sets them apart from the rest. They are truly works of art. Visit his site for more information.

Location, Location, Location :

The TSS convention is run at the Holiday Inn Crabtree. This facility is situated in a major crossroads section of Raleigh, near the intersection of Highway 70 (a.k.a. Glenwood Avenue), and what Trianglites term the "Beltline", which is a nickname for Highway 440, which loops around Raleigh in a , well, circle. Think of it like a miniature version of Washington D.C.'s "Beltway". The building itself was recently renovated, and the rooms have been as well. The rate we get of $81/night is a bargain in comparison with hotels nearby for the same quality of room. We highly recommend the facility, and we cannot say enough about the staff. Also of note, the hotel gives Southern Front attendees a special rate on certain combinations of food during the event. (And beer is cheap too - GUULP!).

We hope you enjoy your stay in Raleigh while attending the event. Please ask us any questions you may have about transportation, lodging, or local site-seeing locales via our Yahoo Mailing List, or via direct e-mail to the webmaster.
